Congressman Carney has not had an open and honest relationship with his constituents in the district. He has campaigned in the 10th as a conservative Democrat and gone to Washington and done nothing but act as a rubber stamp of approval for San Francisco liberal Nancy Pelosi, voting with her 88% of the time.

Congressman Carney has claimed to be pro-life, yet the National Right to Life Committee has given him a dismal 14% rating, meaning he has voted against protecting the unborn 86% of the time during the 2007-2008 session. As a supposed "Pro-life Catholic," Congressman Carney has received an outstanding rating from the NARAL, the group that actively works to promote abortion in the United States. NARAL gave Congressman Carney a 100% rating on supporting pro-choice legislation voted on in 2007.

On Congressman Carney's reelection website, he claims to want to work to expand small businesses in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Although you may think a congressman would work for such a thing, Congressman Carney voted for the biggest tax increase in American history soon after being elected in 2006. Small businesses won't have the ability to prosper anywhere if Congress decides to incessantly tax young entrepreneurs trying to create jobs in areas throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and across the United States. The 10th District needs a representative who will stand up against tax increases that only hinder the entrepreneurial spirit which so defines our nation's economy. Tax breaks for small businesses are the solution for job growth, not tax increases.

Any Congressman from the 10th District, a district with a number of farming families, should stand up and defend small family farmers, yet Congressman Carney has chosen to do the complete opposite in supporting the 2007 Farm Bill, which provided more money to corporate farms making millions of dollars rather than the hardworking small farmers who make up much of the farming industry in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The Farm Bill provided pork to help others work to get reelected and helped already financially stable farms continue to get richer. The 10th District and its farmers needs a representative who will stand up and fight in Washington for the interests of small town farmers.

In 2010, the 10th District needs to send liberal Chris Carney a message: his representation of our district has been marked by more liberal policies that have done little if anything to help the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania. It's time to put a commonsense conservative into the seat so that the people of the 10th District can have a representative who fights hard for their values in Congress. Change is possible in Washington if we can defeat people like Chris Carney!

I could go on and on about Congressman Carney's liberal voting record while in Congress. In fact, this blog is going to do just that over the next year. It is time to bring commonsense back to Washington, and that starts with sending liberals like Chris Carney back home. I hope you will visit this blog regularly, and I ask all of you who have a Facebook account to join the "Defeat Chris Carney '10" group at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=46172951365&ref=ts Together, we can all work to bring change to Washington.
